Please briefly tell us about your background. Who is Torosian Alena as an artist?
Alena Toroian is a begginer artist. Six months ago I realized that I wanted to become a fashion stylist. Before that, I already worked as a personal stylist. And now I have graduated from PSFA ACADEMY by Svetlana Ivanova.
How hard has it been establishing yourself in the industry and what are some of the largest things you've faced?
My way is just beginning. I think the difficulties are still ahead. Although I already have a portfolio and, of course, difficulties on the shoots. The biggest of them is that the model can refuse to work before the shooting.
What does the day of a wardrobe stylist looks like?
It all depends on what day it is. The days before shooting are a creative search, a search for inspiration, a search for a team, a location, and the collection of necessary props. If it's a shooting day, then this is the way to shoot with suitcases, and control the shooting process. If it's the day after the shooting, then it's traveling around the city to return things to their owners and, of course, rest.
Tell me about a time you had a very stressful day at work and how did you handle it?
The most stressful day I had was when I was shooting a fashion editorial story for a thesis at the academy. I worked on it as an art director, producer, and stylist. Three locations, a lot of images, and very little time were planned. It was also added that the day before the model refused to shoot and I had to look for an urgent replacement. But we coped with the task, thanks to the whole team. I am very grateful to the assistants who helped me and the photographer.
If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be?
You'll have to carry suitcases, pull up your body)))
What is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten and do you follow it?
The best piece of advice I have ever gotten is be yourself, don't be afraid of anything, declare yourself, and I follow it.
If you could say one thing to someone younger who looks up to you, what would you say?
Don't look or listen to anyone but yourself. Do what you love. Be yourself. Listen to your heart.
Who were your biggest influences?
My teachers.
My teachers. As the professional sphere, Svetlana Ivanovna, the founder of the PSFA Academy, had the greatest influence on me. She inspired, guided and taught me. I am very grateful to her for my new profession
What's been the biggest highlight in your career so far?
For me, every shoot is a highlight. I love the shooting process and getting to know the creative teams. It's always an interesting adventure.
What are your future plans/goals for the next couple of years?
Create more interesting shoots, meet interesting creative people, get inspired and create
