Fashion Designer: Miley Cao @mileycao.designHappy to have you here, Roxanne. Tell us your story, how did you get started modeling and where is your home at the moment?
I am in love with Dubai and so fortuned to call it my home since 6 years. But Frankfurt will always feel like home to me too because that is where I’m from and where my family lives.
Starting with a young age as a dancer I learned early how to move and act in front of a camera. When I was 16, modelling was an opportunity that appeared in my life and I ran with it, because I had fun doing it. Throughout the years I always had times where I took a break from modeling to focus on other things in life like studying and working in a cooperate world. But I found my way always back because fashion and modeling is a passion and plays a major part in my life.
What are your favorite genres and styles of modeling? In your opinion, what are your strongest features as a model?
The most I enjoy when I shoot in unique couture dresses. When I wear fancy dresses I feel like becoming one with a dress, like a second skin. A natural outside location like a desert, forest, mountains or beaches, makes these images come to life.
I love meeting new people and being on different sets, with different crews. I have learned that I am the chosen solution to a problem that the client had so whether I am holding the product or wearing or modeling around it, I have to bring it to life so that the product or project can have a true human connection. I am the bridge. My strongest features as a model is my body posture and expression . As a former dancer I learned early how to pose and move my bode and put on different face impressions.
What would be your 3 health-wellness-beauty tips for young women?
Try to eat healthy, drink a lot of water and meditate daily.
If you could change something in the modeling world, what would it be?
Unfortunately the shadow side of this industry is about criticizing you and the pressure from agencies and clients to keep up appearances which really affects some people.
The most important, appreciate and accept your unique natural beauty and don’t change for anyone.
What fuels your imagination and provides you with inspiration?
Another hobby I have is painting, it’s a creative way for me to express my vision and different feelings. It keeps me creative and balanced.
I am active in social media and follow my favorite fashion channels to be up to date on fashion trends and to get new inspirantions.
What's one of the most interesting shoots that you've done?
I have been so fortunate to get to work with so many amazing artists and collaborators in this industry, but remarkable shooting was for Harper’s BAZAAR ARABIA, IG: @harpersbazaararabia, with photographer Ekaterina Rautiainen IG: @raushki_ph, and sustainable fashion brand ASMARIA IG: @asmaraia_me. The shooting was in an indoor Djungel place with live animals in middle of Dubai.
If you could say something to everyone on the planet, what would it be?
To stay connected to your family and friends, your support system. Keep the ones you love close to you, and focus on your long-term goals and on what you are working to achieve.
there is something out there for everyone. What might be seen as a missed opportunity is actually making room for something better. Keep your head up and stay strong.
When you want to unwind, what are your favorite go-to activities?
I recharge by daily meditation and connecting with nature by going to beaches or forests. It changes depending on where I am and what's around me.
Practicing yoga and reading relaxes and balance me and provides me with ehe needed energy for my daily tasks.
What's something you haven't achieved but hope to?
My biggest modeling achievement would be to model for perfume campaign.
What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future?
Launching in 2021 with my best friend and business partner Diren Yildiz our first Perfume Oil MIRATH at IG: @mirathdubai. A mixture of Arabic Oud and French Fragrance Oil.
Our goal is to bring the Middle Eastern Tradition to the World!
