Martin Kozlowski: I try to impact and inspire the viewers with something new.

To begin, where are you based? How long has photography been a hobby and career of yours? What motivated you to get started?

I’m based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I started photography as a hobby twenty years ago while I was in college studying system engineering. Since I was a kid I always liked to take photos and one day I decided to try I took a short course where I learned the basics and I used an analog camera borrowed from a friend. At that time, I didn’t have too much free time so I did a couple of courses and used vacations or social events to take photos.

Some years after I got my engineering degree, I decided to push harder on photography. I continued studying and also I started exploring other kinds of photography like nightscapes, dance, body painting, concerts, fashion, and boudoir. I learned a lot from each experience. Not only on the technical side but also from the people involved and their way of work. In the last few years, I concentrated my efforts on fashion. I really like to work with a big team of stylists, makeup artists, hairdressers, and designers to achieve something amazing and unique.

What is your dream in terms of your career?

I have to say that I’m very happy with all the things I have achieved so far. But would be great to work with the famous artists, designers, and models, and maybe one day I will become one of them

What has been your most successful moment to date in your career so far?

I think now is my most successful moment. I’m doing more challenging productions with very talented people and I’m getting a lot of recognition and good feedback from colleges.

Has your vision and style evolved or changed over time?

I learn a lot from every production and also I learn what's things like me the most. I think that the experience makes me have a more mature and complex view. It is something that impulses to do more challenging works

What type of models do you prefer to shoot with? Why?

I don't have a preferred type of model, I believe each model is unique and I look for a model that fits the idea of the editorial.

Can you please explain some of the feelings you are trying to achieve in your photographs?

Every editorial is different and provokes different feelings, but in one way or another, I try to impact and inspire the viewers with something new.

Fashion can be a somewhat unforgiving industry with a lot of egos, how do you deal with it on set or behind the scenes?

Sometimes it could be tough because there is a lot of competition and very good artists out there. We are all pushed to do our best. As a professional, we need to handle these situations avoiding frustrations and helping the team to feel comfortable.

How has photography influenced you as a person and what do you love most about being a photographer?

Also made me look for other ways to see the things I want to photograph instead of doing the most common photo.

What I really like about being a photographer is that I am always working on a new project, with new people. I enjoy searching for new ideas to do.

From your point of view, what makes the shoot successful?

To have a successful shoot the most important thing is teamwork, communication and being open to new ideas. Also, planification and production are super important to achieve the goals of the production.

What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future?

I’m always planning new projects and looking for new ideas to do. I would like to try cinematic or analog photos. I saw a lot of posts on social networks from these styles and I would really like to try.
