Kasia Markowska: Fashion is fire and beauty is the essence

When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are?

I started my journey with photography after the birth of my children Zachary and Oliwia and year after year I got more involved in photography. At first, I was into children's photography, then fine art, and a half year ago I started shooting beauty and fashion.

You have a very unique style. How would you describe your photography to someone who has never seen it?

I tend to switch between dramatic and close to nature, everything depends on the location, clothing, and intent of the picture.

What's the best part of being a photographer? What do you love the most about your job?

Photography is like a never-ending love affair. There are ups and downs but if you are really drawn to photography and you don’t compare to other photographers you can create something special. Besides photography creates an opportunity to meet other creatives who has the passion and the same goals.

In your opinion, what is the difference between fashion and beauty photography? What's your favorite?

Fashion is fire and beauty is the essence. I love both and it is hard to tell which one is my favorite.

How do you keep yourself motivated and your photography fresh?

What motivates me most is to see my photos in magazines and receive positive feedback from my followers.

You bring a very high production value to your work. What is your retouching/production philosophy? How important is Photoshop in your final images?

Photoshop is a very useful tool if you use it wisely. The thing is to retouch the way so no one says that it is retouched.

Are you the sort of photographer who plans for every minuscule detail or are you more spontaneous with your creations? Where do you find the majority of your inspiration?

I plan photoshoots ahead but when it comes to it I get more spontaneous. My inspiration comes from temporary photographers such as Lara Jade and Lindsay Adler.

What is typically in your camera bag and what is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?

In my camera bag, I always have my favorite lens Sigma Art 35 mm.

What are your future plans/goals for the next couple of years?

Just to shoot more and be happy with it.
