To begin, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how did you get into the photography world? Do you have any formal training in your background?
My name is Julia Tyagushova, I am a popular fashion photographer. I came to photography from painting, I have two art educations, the first I am an artist, according to second, I am a specialist in art photography and photojournalism.
What fascinates and motivates you most about being a photographer?
What I admire most about photography is the ability to draw with light and capture unique moments forever. I love staged photography, beautiful clothes, and beautiful people, I always admire the new collections of our designers.
Tell us a bit more about your project. Is there any particular message you would like to get across to the viewers?
My project is shooting a collection of clothes "Barege" by the wonderful designer Anna Suevalova, it is a story in fabrics and lines, a story of love, memories, and beauty of the modern era. Creating this collection, Anna wanted any woman who wears it to feel sophisticated, majestic, and aristocratic. The clothes were supposed to emphasize female individuality, complementing any age, giving perfection to posture and movements, inspiring love, and inspiring action. When creating this collection, the designer surrounded herself with art objects and old photographs of her ancestors born at the junction of two eras. This collection is their story, written in velvet, beads, and silk.
What type of projects are dearest to your heart? Why?
I love projects related to the elements - fire, water, earth, and air. Therefore, I try to use splashes, smoke, rays, fog, water, lighting effects, chandeliers, and candles in the shooting. All this gives my shots a special, sometimes magical atmosphere.
What advice would yoz give to someone looking at a career in photography?
I advise all novice photographers to study composition, and color studies and never be afraid to experiment.
Is there one piece of equipment or prop that you cannot live without?
My main equipment is a camera and a lens, shooting is impossible without them.
How do you use social media in conjunction with your business? What role does it play in your job?
I actively use social networks and I think it is necessary for my business now. I also have my own website where you can learn more about me and my work.
Do you look to other photographers for inspiration, or does your inspiration come from other sources?
I am inspired by the collections of clothes that I am going to shoot. I style my projects, think about where which collection will be more harmonious to shoot, select models myself, and come up with hairstyles and makeup for them.
How has photography influenced or changed you as a person?
Photography made me the creator of my author's universe, it gave me the freedom of creativity. She also gave me a lot of friends and acquaintances from the fashion world, turned me from a reclusive artist into a public person who does not miss a single fashion show or exhibition.
What exciting new project should we expect from you in the future?
Now I am interested in lighting effects and in the future, I plan to shoot with a colored light, neon, prism, and other similar devices.
