JULIA RYABOVA: I write my story on a model with a help of clothes

"Now the boundaries are being blurred in outfits. But some girls get hung on one thing.

In order to grow and change, being interesting to yourself and other people, you need to be more courageous.

We want to demonstrate that it’s easy! From tenderness and softness in an outfit to a hard line of a man’s suit. Or maybe you want to be more open and try to play a different role?

You are beautiful in any role!

Let yourself be different!

Choose who you want to be today?"

When did your passion for fashion start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are?

My passion started from childhood,as my mum sewed clothes and I watched it, looked at the famous “Burda” magazine. As for me, the main milestone was an adolescence, because I always wanted to be on trend and I was. I read fashion magazines such as “Elle”, “Cosmopolitan shopping”, “Yes” and so on. I also had a unique style, so speaking of fashion, I’ve always been in my element.

What do you love the most about your profession?

I think the most incredible thing is that I can implement my creative ideas. And as an artist paints on canvas, so I write my story on a model with a help of clothes.

How would you describe your work to someone who has never seen it? Is there any message you would like your photos to convey?

It is a difficult question, but I would describe my work as I see my reality. I mean, my works are my view of life, the unexpected twins and turns, various situation. I would like my photos convey a message like every person can express themselves using bright colours, backstage. And they should not be afraid of public opinion, their emotions, condemnation etc.

How hard has it been establishing yourself in the industry and what are some of the largest things you've faced?

The most difficult is to make a statement, because there are a lot of really brilliant people who are as imaginative, unconventional as you are. So, in order to be the first, you have to work hard at all times. As for the largest thing I’ve faced is a competition. But there are few professionals, so you must strive to become one.

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be?

I would say go ahead and don’t you dare give up, because it’s always hard to start and keep doing what you’ve always wanted.

What is your main source of inspiration?

Honestly, it may be different things: from a beautiful scenery to my mum who is creating a new outfit or sewing unusual items. It depends on my inner state and mood.

Are there particular issues within the fashion industry that concern you?

If you haven’t got some kind of experience related to the fashion industry, you can’t find a good job in this field, and it always upsets me a lot. How could you assemble series of your works in a portfolio, if employer doesn’t hire you?

What kind of impact do you hope to make in the fashion world?

I’d like to create new outfits mixing and matching clothes of different historical periods, trends, styles. My imagination helps me coming up with new outfits.

In your daily routine, what resources do you like to learn new things about art, fashion?

If I want to get away from it all, I open a runway of Vogue magazine and look for a real great shows. For example, I’ve recently drawn inspiration from Christian Dior pre-fall 2021/22 show. Moreover, I like to visit exhibitions and study new views on familiar things.

What projects are you working on next, and what are your goals for the future?

My next project is about Asia culture mixing with bright colours of the 60-s. It’s a kind of a transformation from an image of a gentle simple girl into an avant-garde image. My main goal is to stylize fashion shows in the Paris fashion week. In order to achieve my goal, I need to do a lot, create a portfolio, take part in different projects and so on.

Where can we see more of your works and get connected with you?

I try to upload my works to Instagram @jul1998z, you can get connected with me there.
