Cynthia Linnet Lau: I want to see diversity and equality for all

Happy to have you here, Cynthia. Tell us your story, how did you get started modeling and acting, where is your home at the moment?

Thank you so much for having me, I am honored. I was very young when I developed a passion for acting and modeling, the arts have always been where I am happiest. I started doing theater and commercials at age 7, dance at 3, and modeling I took on later on in life and it really catapulted after entering the world of pageantry. Today, I have gotten the chance to work with amazing human beings, use my voice for great causes, and storytelling is now a part of my daily life. I am based in Miami, FL, and travel quite often for work purposes.

Tell us more about yourself. What else do you do next to modeling and acting?

I am an advocate for climate change and wildlife conservation. I work avidly as a global ambassador of the World Wild Life Fund and a member of Greenpeace International. Through, my project the Eco Pact Initiative, I am able to focus on creating awareness and promoting environmental social justice by partnering with individuals, organizations, companies, or governments entities one action at a time. Furthermore, I am also in the field of real estate here in Miami and am currently developing my own company focused on sustainable women's footwear.

What do you love most about being an actress? And, what do you least enjoy?

I absolutely love being able to interpret different characters but above all, I love the growth that I am still going through in every production that I am able to partake in. It is such a rewarding journey to be able to learn from amazing individuals in the industry, work with talented people, and continue working hard towards my goals.

What is the most challenging thing about being in this industry?

The most challenging thing about the industry would be rejection. Before you get one yes, you will see many no’s. However, when you love something so deeply and truly believe in yourself, you can persevere through it. Eventually, that one yes becomes worth it.

What would you like to see across different industries where women participate?

I want to see diversity and equality for all no matter the race, color, religion. I want people to be applauded and recognized for their talent and not their looks. I want women to feel empowered because of the trailblazers they are within their society. There are so many female leaders that often go unrecognized, so let’s applaud those women who fight for change, equality, those who create their own business, and those who follow their life passions wholeheartedly.

What fuels your imagination and provides you with inspiration?

I believe that it is my passion for the arts, health, community, and empowerment that drives me to live a purposeful life.

What keeps you excited about life in general?

The never-ending opportunities if you’re willing to work hard. I have dreams and passions, and I want to continue taking the initiative to make them a reality.

What kind of life would you like to have?

One where I can look back and say I put in the work and I made it happen. I want to be able to wake up every single day with a smile on my face because of all that I have been able to build through philanthropy, community, business, and my passion for the arts.

What are the achievements you are proud of most of today?

  • I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my MBA.

  • I am a two-time cancer survivor.

  • I have been able to portray different roles that I am proud of.

  • I am a World Wild Life Ambassador.

  • I have lobbied for cancer research and prevention.

  • I have developed my own environmental project known as The Eco Pact Initiative.

  • I have represented my home country, in two international pageant stages.
